The Server Auction
This is arguably Hetzner's most unique feature. Most providers scrap old servers or hide them. Hetzner puts them in a "Dutch Auction." As hardware is retired from their primary lines, it lists on the auction block. The price drops steadily every few hours until someone buys it.

The Good

The Bad
- Aggressive ID Verification (KYC): This is the biggest hurdle. When you sign up, Hetzner’s fraud detection is extremely strict. Expect to be asked for a passport scan or ID. If you use a VPN or provide mismatched address info during signup, they will likely reject your account instantly with no appeal process.
- Zero Hand-Holding: Support handles hardware and network uptime. They do not help with software. If your Apache server crashes or you lock yourself out of SSH, you are on your own.
